Naile Akıncı, who has left us one year ago at age 91 and was one of the greatest masters of Turkish painting with her unique language and color understanding, is commemorated by a group exhibition. At the exhibition, opened at the Kızıltoprak Art Gallery, the works by artists that she has followed throughout her life are being exhibited.
At this exhibition organized in memory of Naile Akıncı, who had celebrated her 75th year in art in 2013 and left us in 2014, the paintings, sculptures and ceramics by those artists that she followed, admired during her life are exhibited. The works are either special selections or new productions by the artists who have been invited for this exhibition.
Naile Akıncı’s son Cengiz Akıncı says, “It is beyond doubt that an artist, who was at the same age as the Republic, had many artists from different generations that she enjoyed watching and admired in her long-winded art production. Maybe they are together with the paintings of Naile Akıncı for the first time here. When we look from this perspective, the exhibition organized by the Kızıltoprak Art Gallery is quite important in allowing us to see the works that the eyes of Naile Akıncı had once touched upon. Being able to pursue the trails of her eyes, after an artist had departed, is somewhat like chatting with her.”
At the exhibition, the works by Naile Akıncı, Muhsin Kut, Oktay Anılanmert, Türkan Sılay Rador, Beril Anılanmert, Ferit Özşen, Muzaffer Akyol, Haşim Nur Gürel, Dilek Işıksel, Demet Yersel, Aydın Ayan, Müfide Aksoy, Ayla Aksungur, Rahmi Aksungur, Ertuğ, Atlı, Ümit Öztürk, Mahir Güven, İrfan Okan, Mustafa Horasan, Mert Özgen and Evren Karayel Gökkaya may be viewed.
The Naile Akıncı commemoration exhibition at the Kızıltoprak Art Gallery ends on May 5.
