Salt Research Funds, which have supported the production and sharing of knowledge, learning, and discussion with a total of 74 projects since 2013, continue to open space for new and original research. 2024 applications for the Salt Research Funds, which encourage original document acquisition and research-oriented projects in the fields of urban, social, and economic history of Turkey from the 19th century to the present and post-1950 art, architecture, and design, started on January 16. The funds are intended for studies that examine local examples related to social changes and transformations from interdisciplinary and multifaceted perspectives, making new sources visible or enabling the questioning of conventional wisdom with current findings. Content that will interpret the institution’s archival collections or that can be integrated into its long-term research will be prioritized during the evaluation phase. As a result of the application process to be completed in two stages, each of the selected research projects will be funded with 35,000 TL. On Monday, February 19, preliminary applications will continue until 18:00 on Monday, February 19, and the suitability of the content in terms of subject, period, and research area will be evaluated. The deadline for candidate projects that pass this stage is Monday, March 18, and the announcement of the results is set for Friday, April 26. This year’s evaluation process will be carried out by a Selection Committee consisting of Prof. Dr. Gülhan Balsoy (Istanbul Bilgi University), Assoc. Dr. Ayşe Erek (Kadir Has University), Dr. Bilge İmamoğlu (TED University), Sezin Romi (Salt) and Lorans Tanatar Baruh (Salt). The outputs of the supported projects will be opened to public comments and contributions at a presentation program in December.
