“Makers” are gathering in this fair for supporting, popularizing and celebrating the production in an era of consumption. Spread over the world starting from the U.S., the maker movement is now becoming widespread through fairs organized in many parts of the world. Those who try to make inventions by dismantling their toys at home, say “i can do this by myself” after witnessing a new technology, create flowerpots out of waste boxes and painting them, hold on to art and technology, the ability to create in other words; in brief, those who always make inventions are called as “makers”. These inventions are now pretty easy to make owing to the accessibility of the latest technology. Therefore many people started to share their methods that are essential for home productions. The movement of “DIY-Do IT Yourself” is becoming gradually popular throughout the world. Organized by the leadership of the Make magazine since 2006, Maker Faire has been organized in many cities like New York, Paris, Rome, in schools and even in the White House through the great support of Barack Obama regarding the Maker Movement. Along with robots, drones, luminous toys and electronic kits that draw the attention of children especially in the field of education, Maker Faire has become a global movement that assembles all producers.
Organized for the third time this year, Istanbul Maker Faire will take place at ITU Taşkışla Campus between October 7-9. Growing voluntarily by getting supported by schools, institutions and makers in person, the gathering turns into an exhibition space where a generation supporting the productions in the consumption era share their inventions, toys and informations. Along with the companion of seminars and workshops, the gathering will exhibit interesting robots, drones , 3D printer technologies and electronic inventions in the fields of art, mechatronics, electronic promaker and outdoors.
