Setting out with the idea of “accessible art for all”, Step Istanbul will be held in cooperation with Contemporary Istanbul and Tomtom Designhood for its first edition this year between April 25-28, at Tomtom Kırmızı and the garden of Italian High School. Galleries, artists, art initiatives, art professionals, collectors and those who want to take the first step to become a collector are coming together within the scope of this event. The first edition of Step Istanbul, which will be held between April 25-28, will present a selection of contemporary artworks to local and international participants with its sincere atmosphere adapting to the spirit and space of the project. Creating an interdisciplinary programme with its parallel events, Step Istanbul will be an exciting start for artists, galleries and those who will engage in the art of collecting. Setting out with the aim to express art as an accessible phenomenon, Step Istanbul sets its sights on young people who take interest in art and who would like to become better acquainted with the field. The event creates a new platform that will allow for those who are planning to purchase artworks to have and share personal experiences. Step Istanbul, which will be supported by “Step Talks”, a talks programme to be prepared by a young curator, will provide a platform for individuals who want to be closely involved in the art scene to have pleasant time. The programme will give place to the current dynamics of the global art world and dialogues on art production. Additionally, the programme will also include segments on art criticism, curatorial approaches and new media art, the indispensable element of our age. In addition to talks programme, the event will also feature workshops, artist performances, and art walks to be organized periodically. Having previously organized festivals, projects and events in different fields such as design and fashion, based on an innovative approach, Tomtom Designhood is now hosting an art event on the occasion of Step Istanbul. Rooms in the Tomtom Kırmızı building, with its well-preserved historic texture and architecture spanning the past and present, are now being opened for those who want to explore and connect with art. Contemporary Istanbul, which has been bringing together collectors and art enthusiasts, along with leading galleries, artists, institutions and organizations of Turkey and the world for 13 years in İstanbul, and which pioneers the promotion of Turkey both at home and abroad, brings a whole new dimension to its experience and knowledge spanning many years, through its collaboration with Step Istanbul.
