The new temporary exhibitions and mezzanine event in Elgiz
Museum is named after Sean Henry’s “Plaza Worker”. The
exhibition, composed of works describing the loneliness and
helplessness of the plaza worker in a crowd, may be seen until
September 19, 2015.
According to the descriptive text authored by Haşim Nur Gürel,
plaza worker is the work of an artist who presents an office
worker using his briefcase as his pillow, has taken off his shoes
and socks, barefeet, sleepy or trying to sleep a little snuggled in
a gray suit, attempting to get rest for the next day on a transparent
and similar to a ‘casket’ stone high platform; a work open to
various negative comments, a work to make one think…
Elgiz Museum tries to bring a different perspective to the positions of Maslak plaza workers… A little later, Sean Henry’s man in the suit also will
put on his socks and shoes, will brush his teeth, will grab a carton cup of coffee and be at his desk exactly at 9:00 a.m.”
