OYAK Cement Concrete Paper Group announced the Cement Design Competition, the first edition of which will be held with the theme “Unexpected Transformations” this year. The competition, which will provide an opportunity for the emergence of qualified designs carried out with the use of cement in order to enhance and popularize the correct use of cement and concrete, will be organized in two different stages and two different categories, including professionals and students. The free-to-enter competition is open for individual and group submissions. The first stage of the competition, which has two different categories aiming at professionals and students, will accept projects between March 15-May 5. In the first stage of the Cement Design Competition, which aims to bring added value to designs with the use of cement, the participants will be expected to produce an everyday object through a DIY (do-it-yourself) approach and accordingly design a “DIY set” that describes the materials and methods needed during the production process. The objects to be presented need to be an everyday object at a scale of 1:1, which could fit inside a volume of 125,000 cm3, and they need to be designed with the DIY set by a single user, in a way that no additional help is needed. Those who qualify to advance to the second stage of the competition will have the opportunity to implement the object and DIY set that they have designed at a production center pertaining to OYAK Cement Concrete Paper Group, by benefiting from the facilities of a well-equipped studio environment. In this way, the groups selected for the second stage of the competition, in company with experts, will be able to extend their knowledge on subjects related to production such as mold creating techniques and cement formulas to be used in their designs.
