Mixer hosts two new exhibitions between October 27 – November 25. While Ahmet Sarı’s 10th solo exhibition “Upside Down” presents the artist’s works spreading to the last two years accompanied by his sketch books, the group exhibition of photographs entitled “Sense of Movement” will showcase the works by Kürşat Bayhan, Çağdaş Erdoğan, Furkan Temir and Murat Şaka, presenting the crossing areas of photography and journalism.
In his new exhibition “Upside Down”, Ahmet Sarı dwells on the unstable power balance of the societies and opens them to debate while creating distinctive narratives on the same objects. He traces the common links and dialogues which are generated by the wholeness of the objects. Objects that gradually become congested and turn into an exquisite play on canvas; involve the viewer and draw attention to the relativity of perception, the anxiety of current life and the disguise of the comfort zone.
“Sense of Movement” brings together four photograph artists / photojournalists who have presented remarkable works recently and gained a seat on international platforms. The exhibition presents to the audiences the works of Kürşat Bayhan, Çağdaş Erdoğan, Furkan Temir and Murat Şaka, dwelling on the crossing areas of photography and journalism, with a selection that sheds light on the last year’s agenda both in Turkey and the world. Today, the line between photojournalism and artistic photo is increasingly getting thinner. While easily portable technologies during the 1930s turned photojournalism into a profession, today art museums have started to include the works of renowned photojournalists and they managed to break taboos in this regard.
