Curated by Prof. Hasan Bülent Kahraman, the exhibition of Eda Soylu which is entitled “Constructing the House Anew” is open for
visitors until January 13 at Gallery KHAS in Kadir Has University.
Based on the spatial idea of Eda Soylu and demolition and reconstruction of the house concept; the project is an installation formed
inside the gallery space. Consisting of building materials that are collected from various wrecks of houses and the architectural
elements which have been dismantled by the artist from her own house and brought in to the gallery; the installation features the
deconstruction and reconstruction of the concepts of house, household and space. Soylu welcomes visitors with a complicated and
self contradictory action by applying live and dried plants that are integrated with concrete where she asks them to destroy this
formation by trampling on it.
Launched on October 13, the exhibition’s curator, Prof. Hasan Bülent Kaharaman states that Soylu’s exhibition stands for a direct
intervention through individual memories, regarding the urbanization period we are currently experiencing and it forces us to live
the mutual story of ours and others. He indicates that this exhibition is a complete experience and performance while describing the
works of Soylu as a layered structure that welcomes multiple readings.
