The national participation event for the “SHUITOU, The 16th China (Nan’an) Shuitou International Stone Exhibition”, held between November 8-11 2015 in the city of Shuitou, China, was carried out by the Istanbul Minerals and Metals Exporters’ Association for the second time this year.
The exhibition took place in “Cathay Stone Mall” which is the expo center of the city, spreading over 110.000 square meters. Marble, granite, travertine and other natural stones besides decorative products such as plates, curbs, mosaics plus machinery and equipments were exhibited in the Shuitou Fair, which is being organized for 16 years to date. Along with 582 participants from 10 countries and thousands of visitors, the top ten list of countries in terms of visiting the fair include in the following order: Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Italy, Egypt, Greece, Ukraine, Spain, Dubai and Indonesia. The participation rates of the Turkish companies have increased compared to last year. In total, 66 Turkish companies had the opportunity to exhibit their products in an area of nearly 1,600 square meters of which 48 of the companies involve IMIB UR-GE and 8 of them involve BAIB UR-GE projects.
Along with the newly designed fair area this year, the total exhibition area has been increased to 110,000 square meters which was 15,000 square meters in recent years and 55,000 square meters in the year of 2014. Mostly consisting of medium and small sized enterprises, The UR-GE project, have proven its value yet again with this fair that it will make a major contribution by improving our country’s mining and natural stone exportations.
Considering the completion of the fair’s construction in 2016 in its permanent new location (with a total area of 90,000 sqm, of which 60,000 sqm is closed and 30,000 sqm is open space), it’s estimated that the number of visitors and participants will increase and surpass the Xiamen Fair in a couple of years which is one of the most important fairs.
Coinciding with the 10th of November, the death anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Turkish participants conducted a memorial service at the fair. By wearing t-shorts printed his picture, handed out by the courtesy of IMIB, the participants of the fair gathered and commemorated Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of our country and our first president of the republic, through a moment of silence.
