“From past to present, health facilities such as hospitals appear as structures
where people go through intense personal experiences when compared
to other structures. The personal experience of the individual plays
a major role in terms of imaginative richness and diversity for such structures.
Starting from this point of view, the conceptual development of
the interior project is grounded on the institutional traces carried out by
Acıbadem as a healthcare group, regarding individual and patient behavior.
In this sense, it is aimed to create unique places where visitors can
experience a home-like atmosphere. Accordingly, the quality and naturality
of the selected materials were of great importance. Particularly, the
chromatic color transitions in marble shades which were used as natural
stones were highly important in order to foreground the global value that
Acıbadem had moved forward. Therefore, along with the color transitions
of marble used on the floors, we think that we can unearth the existing
reflections of the space that are already present inside.”

Grounding on the experience and responsibility of working together with
the Acıbadem Healthcare Group for years, we started off with the root
idea of creating “the technology of the future” for our Altunizade Hospital
project. Because just as in all our projects, our primary purpose as a
team was “setting an example and being ahead of today”, which stands
for one of the main subjects of architecture as well.
Our plot was previously used as a nursery and later functioned for the
Marmara University Hospital and annexes; which can be accessed via
Tophanelioğlu Avenue, positioned on the Altunizade direction of the Koşuyolu
Avenue following the Validebağ Grove on the right side.
The project site was situated at a location where we can demonstrate a
qualified structure that can be harmonious with its surroundings. Given
the fact that Validebağ Grove which is situated right next to the site, is on
the flyway direction of birds; we have tried to reduce the negative effects
of the building concerning the habitat by lowering the height of the building.
We wanted to show that a building can be built by considering the
harmony between human-environment scale within constrictions, through
designing the main canopy in order not to exceed the height of the
near-by mansion, which shines out as a historical texture. While we met
the functions of the hospital structure of our building, creating a visual
feast both inside and outside was our primary goal and we believe that
we managed to achieve this.
The fact that hospitals are both complicated in terms of technical infrastructures
and because they embody different functions to be solved
altogether, an extensive study was highly required. In this regard, we beli-eve that we have created an exemplary, aesthetic, technologic, functional
and environment-friendly structure by using healthy materials, ensuring
the health and comfort of patients, visitors and personnel and benefiting
from the maximum levels of daylight.
As of 2017, Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital with its 350 bed capacity and
98,000 sqm of indoor area, is the largest private hospital in Turkey in
terms of its indoor space. It also draws the attention by being a LEED Gold
certified nominee, green hospital.
For the first time in the world in order to be ahead of today and bring
the technology of the future; the hospital will feature a hybrid operation
system that integrates three different diagnosis units in the sterile operating
room environment (3 Tesla MRI, 128 Slice-CT, 2 pheno devices),
which are in connection with three operating rooms. There is a total of 18
operating rooms and 75 intensive care units. A design scheme that ensures
efficient clinical studies was achieved along with a department-specific
layout. According to this design; the following qualified centers come
to the forefront: Neurosciences center, breast clinic, oncology center, ortopedics
and traumatology center, interventional neuroradiologic surgery
center, hair transplant center, physiotherapy center, stem cell center, oral
and dental health center, gynecology and obstetric center, laser and skin
care center, endoscopy center, angiography center (catheter lab), radioactive
iodine therapy center, in vitro fertilization center and pediatric center.CREDITS
