Aegean Architecture Exhibition and Awards 2023 program, organized for the fifth time this year and 9 winning projects were determined in the categories of building, project and thematic pursuits. Aegean Architecture Exhibition and Awards organized for the fifth time this year which is a program initiated by the Izmir Branch of the Chamber of Architects in 2010. This program, which has an important place in Izmir’s architectural culture, continues with the title “Aegean Architecture Exhibition and Awards” by developing and updating its content in the 100th anniversary of the Republic. By expanding the scale of the program in cooperation with the Denizli and Muğla Branches of the Chamber of Architects, a content that covers the diversity of the region that forms the spatial culture has been designed. The Aegean Architecture Exhibition and Awards program includes architects and students as architects of the future, as well as buildings that evaluate the spatial knowledge of the locality by considering past and current productions, and seek future images and timeless ideas in a transdisciplinary way through this accumulation. To this end, the program is organized in four categories for 2023: Building, project, thematic pursuits and master architects. In the “Building” category: “Havuz İzmir” by Serdar Uslubaş and Merih Feza Yıldırım (Bornova, İzmir), “Didim Amfitiyatrosu” by Orhan Ersan, Deniz Dokgöz and Ferhat Hacıalibeyoğlu (Didim, Aydın), “İzmir Tarımı Geliştirme Merkezi Sasalı Biolab” by Mert Uslu (Çiğli, İzmir) and “Pako Sokak Hayvanları Sosyal Yaşam Kampüsü” (Bornova, İzmir). In the “Project” category: “Urla Otobüs Terminali” by Mert Uslu (Urla, İzmir), “İzmir EVKA-3 Sosyal Merkez ve Aktarma İstasyonu” by Sıddık Güvendi, Oya Eskin Güvendi and Barış Demir (Bornova, İzmir), “Başka Bir Tasarım Okulu” by Emre Şavural, Fatih Yavuz, Ege Çakır and Cemre Önetürk (Urla, İzmir). Winners for the “Thematic Searches” category: Ebubekir Kaba’s “Kent Fabrikası” and Zeynep Dündar’s “Damlacık: Tünelin Üstündeki Mahalle”. At this year’s award ceremony, Güngör Kaftancı was unanimously voted worthy in the Master Architects category.
