Industrial and Architectural Natural Stone Design Competition, organized for the 12th time by Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association (IMIB), the application process for the competition continues. The deadline for application is December 1, 2023 and the jury evaluation meeting will be held on December 11-15. The winners will be announced in February 2024. In the competition awards will be given in two categories, these are professional and student categories. The first prize in the professional category will be 125 thousand TRY, the second prize will be 75 thousand TRY and the third prize will be 50 thousand TRY.
Funda Bekişoğlu, Member of the Board of Directors of IMIB, stated that the Natural Stone Design Competition, which has been made traditional by the Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association (İMİB), aims to increase the design quality of Turkish natural stones and said, “With this competition, we aim to contribute to the design of original and industrially manufacturable products. We want products with high design quality to be adapted to daily life in the company of architects and designers. Thus, we are producing products with higher added value and encouraging Turkey to produce value-added products.” Bekişoğlu noted that one of the biggest goals of the competition, which brings together the sector, university students and professionals, is to develop products that are strong in terms of design, high added value, environmentally sensitive and sustainable in natural stone exports.
Sharing information about last year’s competition, Funda Bekişoğlu said: “Last year’s Industrial and Architectural Natural Stone Design Competition received 89 applications in the student category and 233 applications in the professional category. A total of 322 applications were received and 12 projects were awarded. We expect more applications for this year’s competition.”
