Having the theme METAMORPHOSIS, the deadline for the 7th International Concrete Design Competition for Students is June 8. Five winning students will be partaking in the masterclass in Berlin which is hosted by TU Berlin between September 4-11.
The 7th International Concrete Design Competition for Students adapting the theme METAMORPHOSIS, requests from architecture, design and engineering students to explore and examine the potential qualities of concrete, aiming at the notion of METAMORPHOSIS. These can be both related to the qualities existing in the core of the material as well as the practices in new or current structures. They could address aesthetic concerns, structural systems and manufacturing methods and further make remarks on economical facts, sustainability demands and social issues.
The competition does not impose any restrictions about specific locations or programs. The competitors are free to choose a context in accordance with their own interests, goals and active presentations. Suggestions may vary in a wide range of topics from objects, furniture and architectural details to sheltering, landscape arrangements, complex structures, infrastructure and structural systems. Competitors need to examine technical and functional problems as well as topics related with form and programming. The ideas need to be exhibited in a convincing fashion through testing the ideas with the design-based suggestions. Suggestions will be evaluated over the combination of the architectural inferences and the creativity of taking the theme into consideration.
The jury of the competition is composed of Cem İlhan, Nurbin Paker, Ferhat Hacıalibeyoğlu, Nilüfer Kozikoğlu and Yeşim Hatırlı.
