Films to compete in the international competition of the 5th International Boğaziçi Film Festival, which will start on November 17, have been announced. Hosting Aida Begic, Sarajevo’s famous director, as the head of the jury; International Feature Film Competition, will present 8 films which have been received numerous awards from Cannes to Locarno, Berlin to Venice. 10 short fiction films and 8 short documentaries originated from various countries such as Germany, Georgia, Lithuania and South Korea, will appear in front of the short film jury for prizes worth a total of 45.000 TL.
The 5th International Boğaziçi Film Festival will be held in Istanbul between November 17-26, 2017; by the International Boğaziçi Cinema Association and Istanbul Media Academy, with the contributions of Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Showcasing feature, short fiction and short documentary films from all around the world, from Germany to Georgia and Lithuania to South Korea; the festival will present movie enthusiasts the films of the world. The screenings will take place in Atlas, Beyoğlu and Kadıköy cinemas.
This year, all the films in the International Feature Film Competition will organize their Turkey premieres at the International Boğaziçi Film Festival. Featuring a total of 8 films from Brazil, France, Georgia, Iran, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Romania and Russia; the competition’s head of the jury will be Aida Begic, Sarajevo’s renowned female director, whom we know with the films “Snow” and “Children of Sarajevo”. In the frame of the competition, one film will receive the Grand Prize worth 50.000 TL; along with prizes with a total worth of over 100.000 TL, which will be presented to the actor, actress, scenario, cinematography and film editing categories.
In the International Boğaziçi Film Festival’s international short film competition; one film in the fiction category will win the Best International Short Fiction Film Award worth 10.000 TL and another film in the documentary category will win the Best International Short Documentary Film Award with a value of 10.000 TL. In addition, one of the short films competing nationally and internationally in the frame of the competition, will be given the Ahmet Uluçay Grand Prize worth 25.000 TL.
