Co-curated by Huma Kabakcı and Mine Küçük, the group exhibition entitled “Past meets Present” will showcase a selection of works by 16 Turkish and international artists who take inspiration from history and produce works with different materials and techniques.
Defining the past, the present and their relations with each other through contemporary art works, the exhibition reinterprets the phenomena and objects which we witness in our daily lives, by also looking at the fact that history is constantly shaping our daily experiences.
The exhibition will feature works from Sami Aslan, Burçak Bingöl, Hera Büyüktaşçıyan, Ahmet Civelek, Onur Hastürk, Patrick Hough, Bilal Hakan Karakaya, Seçil Kınay, Hasan Kıran, Maude Maris, Ardan Özmenoğlu, Murat Palta, Shahpour Pouyan, Gazi Sansoy, Elvan Tekcan and Pınar Yolaçan.
Stating that the exhibition concept and artists taking part in the exhibition, established a harmony with the history of Anna Laudel Contemporary’s building, which formerly served as the Ottoman Post Office and currently bringing local and international artists together; the curators invite visitors to the selection they have assembled, to explore the historical journey which was inspired by the excavations, explorations and research conducted by the artists in the past.
“Past meets Present” can be visited at Anna Laudel Contemporary between September 7 – October 13.
