The event series entitlted “TODAY’S ART//YET ANOTHER ONE”, aims to learn and debate the changes regarding today’s art with different perspectives. Consisting of talks, workshops and performances, all of the 10 events involve the gatherings of those who fascinate about the current directions of art. The event entitled “YET ANOTHER LIFE: Molecular Biology and Bioart (Microscopic Performance)” will take place on January 15 at Borusan Sanat, along with the participations of key speakers Ayşe Gül Süter and Assoc. Prof. Ebru Yetişkin. Embodying the most vivid interactions between science and art, bioart appears as an ever-developing field in the world. Bioart reveals the norms, hierarchies and contradictions of the current social order and suggests conceptual tools in order to create another order. Today, the art works that are created by scientific methods, equipments, technologies and laboratories are becoming highly popular. Developed with the revolution of biotechnology, bioart makes experimental interventions through observing the realms beyond human and creates different perspectives and observation experiences along with an artistic approach. Therefore today’s art realizes what has been seemed impossible in the past. Within the frame of these talks, a microscopic performance will take place with Assoc. Prof. Ebru Yetişkin and Ayşe Gül Suter who focus on fundamental questions, problems and masterpieces about bioart. Inspired by nature and life, Ayşe Gül Süter attended many exhibitions both in Turkey and overseas. Along with the neuroscience specialist, Assoc. Prof. and Biologist Joseph DeGiorgis; she examines microscopic sea creatures and plants in laboratories and the expeditions they organize. She later transfers these images into her works and installations which are created by mixed media techniques, glass, lighting, animation and motors. Assoc. Prof. Ebru Yetişkin is a sociologist who carries on her educational and research-oriented practices in the frame of science, art and technology in the body of Istanbul Technical University. She scrutinizes the digital media culture through a critical approach.
