The 2nd International Sustainable Buildings Symposium (ISBS 2015), organized by the Gazi University Technology Faculty Civil Engineering Department will be held during May 28-30.
“Sustainability” is a key concept that aims for the ability of the societies to continue to exist in the coming centuries. Within his context, the improvement of the environment quality without damaging the ecosystem balances is the basis in sustainable building design. The goals in sustainable building design are to create suitable environments for the users as based on qualitative, quantitative, physical and psychological indicators. A sustainable building may be defined by the economic, social and cultural sustainability dimensions. In that context, ecological sustainability organizes the designs associated with the preservation of the resources and the ecosystem, the long term availability and the low utilization costs of the economic sustainability resources; while social and cultural sustainability organizes the issues associated with ensuring human health and comfort and the preservation of social and cultural assets. At the symposium, where these structures will be handled, it is intended to present and discuss forecasts aimed for the future in the areas of “Sustainable Buildings and the Environment”, “Sustainable Planning”, “Energy and the Environment”, “Environmental Pollution Control and Supervision” and “Environment Policies and Practices”, and to generate solutions or provide new developments.
