Dicle Hökenek graduated from Istanbul Kültür University
School of Architecture with Honors in 2005. Through her
studies, she won various national and international design
contests. She won the first prize at Archiprix Architecture
Students National Contest and first prize as Head of
Team at Borusan Mannesmann – PROSteel Steel Structure Design Students
Contest. After graduating from IKU School of Architecture, she worked at
DBArchitects as an architect and designer for a long time period.
At her office she set up for providing high quality architectural design services,
besides architectural design in solution partnership with different disciplines,
she also is involved in interior and product design.
According to Hökenek, to give a form to a mass, being able to implement
what one thinks and analyze it are directly related to designer’s knowing the
material. The architect has created various designs depending on the needs
of the space, in connection with the use of natural materials.
In each product designed for the needs of the space, she reveals the textures
and light plays of natural Stones and trees as significant graphic elements.
The form effects like color, shape and density of each design are assessed by
their location and function and their interactions with other dynamics of the
space are discussed individually. Marble, which is sometimes used as a floor
or wall covering, is dealt with as a coffee table or kitchen counter in another
location. In cases where natural stone is picked as a decorative mural, colored
stones or those with light are picked. Different marbles are chosen for tables
designed in different forms.
THE LIFE CO WELL-BEING
In the design of the massage parlor at The Life Co Well-Being, forest green
marble screens are applied overall to give the feeling of depth on the back
drops of massage rooms separated by glass partitions and screens.
The CNC cut suspended ceiling is formed by reinterpretation of the pattern
in forest green.
SO HOME
SO Home is on the 3rd floor of a 4-storey old building at Osmanbey.
True to its original, linked floors and stone walls are conserved in
the home overall. In the redesigned and relocated kitchen, once
again bianco carrara white marble is used as counter material.
The dinner table is created and produced at the home on iron
pedestals using taurus black marble.
TS HOME
TS home is designed as a positive, spacious and profound penthouse duplex
dominated by the color white.
Especially in terms of bathroom design, the user’s demand for freshness
and light was considered, with white marble applied to all surfaces.
The shower tank on the floor of the shower place was once again designed
and applied as a monoblock piece of the same marble.
The same material is applied using different cuts in the shower space, giving
rise to a dynamic wall application.
There is an attempt to set up a visual link with the use of wood all over the
home with the walnut veneered bathroom furniture. This has also led to an
interesting visual contrast between these two materials.
Another place where marble is used in the same home is the use of bianco
carrara white marble pena tables lying on laminated oak hardwood and
red carpet…
