Established in 1991 over the interest taken in the artistic and aesthetic aspects of lighting, TEPTA Lighting celebrates its 25th year in 2016. TEPTA carries out a lighting exhibition that is organized for the first time in Turkey within this context. Situated at the temporary exhibition space of Istanbul Museum of Modern Art and entitled “Day, Light, Night”, the exhibition is open for visitors until January 22. Gathering leading architects, designers and artists along with the design- oriented brands it represents, TEPTA’s special exhibition for which they celebrate their 25th anniversary is curated by UBL from Germany and the lighting designer Ulrike Brandi who is the founding director of the Brandi Institute. Participants are asked to focus on the notion of “natural light” for the exhibition of which Brandi was inspired by the atmosphere of Istanbul, reflecting utterly different emotions depending on the lights that change upon different hours and weather conditions. The concept indicated in the call of the curator enabled participants to reconsider and interpret “natural light”. A program including talks with the exhibition participants such as Enzo Catellani, Refik Anadol, Christine Brandi, Emre Arolat, Melkan Gürsel and Murat Tabanlıoğlu and the production process being in the first place; a screening program consisting of movies on the lighting field will also be available for the visitors. Screenings will meet with the audience within the scope of the Istanbul Modern Cinema program between November 5-6, 2016.
