The exhibition entitled “Everyday Sounds: Exploring Sound Through Daily Life” where various sounds of urban life can be explored, presents the sounds that escape one’s attention in daily life. Supported by Dolby Atmos, Extreme Audio and Pana Film Studios, the exhibition is open for visitors at ANAMED until March 20.
Content development, exhibition design and graphic design of the exhibition was carried out by Pattu (Cem Kozar, Işıl Ünal) and the sound installations by sound designers Mine Erkaya and Ateş Erkoç. The exhibition offers soundscape experiences within a range of scales such as spaces, streets and cities.
Consisting of different sections, the exhibition starts with the question “How do people perceive the sounds in the environments in which they exist?” and further continues with an interactive installation where sounds lost in daily routines can be identified. In the next section, the sound installation “Another Day in the City” with the screenplay and editing by Vassilis Danellis and moving images by Hürcan Emre Yılmazer, presents sounds recorded in streets and effect designs to the visitors.
In another section where the urban sounds are compiled, visitors will have the chance to be a part of the event. Those who are willing to participate in the project can upload the sounds they have recorded in their cities by visiting the dedicated website www.soundsslike.com . The sounds shared by the participants will take place both in the website and the sound map created for the exhibition.
The exhibition also includes the work “Sounds of Istanbul” by Pınar Çevikayak Yelmi, which emphasizes on the sustainability of cultural memory and identity, improved by recording everyday sounds within this understanding.
