MARBLE 2015 International Natural Stone and Technologies
Trade Fair, cited among the world’s top most
comphensive three events for the industry, the 21st
of which is held this year; opened its gates for the
first time on the new exhibition grounds constructed
in Izmir, Gaziemir. A stand, installed over 42 m2 for an international firm
manufacturing and providing service based in Izmir/Malmö for the trade
fair which received visitors between March 25-28, 2015, was highly popular
with local and foreign participants, thanks to its plainness and naturality.
The stand, designed for allowing the firm to exhibit certain upper segment
natural stone types (marble, granite) lead by dolomites added to its product
range recently in a spacious setting, was set up also in such a way to reflect
the emerging corporate perception of the firm. The approach surface was
left totally blank to create a spatial setup with a clearance to draw the participant
in at the maximum level and the rear wall of the stand was drawn
to the highest possible level.
A section of the stand, divided into two compartments spatially and also
perception-wise, was set up with the objective of creating a potent feeling
in connection with the outdoors services in which the firm has claims. Upon
the void identified by a floor and wall surface covered with rare veined
white dolomite, exuding the feeling of a plain but characteristic surface,
a forceful linear 3D composition was installed made up of stone blocks of
different sizes and geometries. The same composition was maintained on
the wall across geometrically as well. A serene Mediterranean atmosphere
was strived to be created inside the stand with the aid of white gravel on
the floor, symbolic olive tree and hidden lights.
The other half of the stand was designed so that firm officials could capture
a comfortable greeting, meeting and working environment with the participants.
Dark colored wall surfaces with no stone covering were employed
in this compartment, creating a visual contrast for the dual space design
of the stand which also offered a neutral backdrop for exhibiting the nondolomite
other upper segment stone specimens. Predominantly, wooden
furniture was chosen in and around the stand to add some warmth to the
natural stone surfaces.
