Designing the interior architectural projects of the building that belongs to Tekeli-Sisa Architectural Partnership, one of the well-established architectural offices of our country that owns the project and its architectural design, CM Architects told us the story of this
building…
DOĞAL TAŞ / NATURAL STONE : TRAVERTEN TARAKLI
MAHAL / LOCATION : OTEL LOBİ DUVAR / HOTEL LOBBY WALL
The building which is approximately 16.000m2 includes production and storage sections as well as service programmes such as laboratories and offices. In addition to this there is a guesthouse with 25 rooms including service areas for food and beverage etc. and a specific spa program.
A winery that takes place in Çanakkale’s Eceabat district in Gelibolu… The architectural project belongs to Tekeli-Sisa Architectural Par tnership, which is one of the well established architectural of fices in Turkey. We commenced our interior architectural project following the star t of the construction phase of the building. We had the advantage of working within a relatively good timing, in presence of Dilgün Saklar and Mehmet Emin Çakırkaya from Tekeli-Sisa Of fice. A winery, like all other factories, has to be designed to meet all the
necessities of it’s existence, in the best way possible. Our aim was to provide a design preventing any disruption of the organic process.
The building which is approximately 16.000m2 includes production and storage sections as well as service programmes such as laboratories and offices. In addition to this there is a guesthouse with 25 rooms including service areas for food and beverage etc. and a specific spa program. At the production section the structure (concrete) was left as plain as possible while using coating partially as needed for water resistance and for any impacts that may come from the moving modules. Raw metal structures were incorporated with rough industrial attachment details while solid wood elements being delicately handled. These type of wineries are most likely to become active on particularly short periods of the year and inactive for the rest of it. Various visits, tasting events and the presence of the guesthouse becomes the extroverted face of the facility. We designed an amphi – presentation space as well as an in house lounge for these visits/ events. The common space facing the main entrance for the offices, guesthouse and winery were setup to be figuratively three dimensional. Including the storage and ageing sections, we considered the reproduction of all materials and relations within the inclusion of the whole winery space. The guesthouse consists of rooms differing form one another. As in each room the sleeping space, the setup, the material use and wet spaces differ while all were designed/ programmed in relation with their attachments, services and materials.

This place is formed of a production space and its services. Therefore we intended to protect its structure that is derived from the original production of spaces and design it with raw materials. Eventually, we endeavored to design the structure with materials such as raw steel, solid wood and stone without overshading the details.

INTERVIEW WITH CEM SORGUÇ ON VİNERO WINERY AND GUESTHOUSE
“The biggest issue regarding natural stones is that there are no inventories created in this country. If any, i don’t know them. In order to achieve this, a proper study involving the producers and quarries is highly needed. This basic data should be created. We use natural stones. For this project, beige and gray series have been used. I can be mistaken if i get to give a more specific name because every producer creates its own name”
For our readers to know you better, could you tell us about the architectures and innovations you have produced during the recent years?
I don’t know about the matter of innovation but i can say that we have produced quite a few of housing projects, office accommodations and their interiors in terms of our productions.
When you first scrutinized the project, what kind of a space you have wished for? Have you been able to come to fruition?
This place is formed of a production space and its services. Therefore we intended to protect its structure that is derived from the original production of spaces and design it with raw materials. Eventually, we endeavored to design the structure with materials such as raw steel, solid wood and stone without overshading the details.
We realize that you have used natural stones. It seems that the material selections, their forms and every detail managed to form an elaborative completeness and beautiful outlooks have emerged as a result. Could you inform us a bit about how you selected the materials?
As you have mentioned, our priority is not choosing fake and imitation materials. I don’t quite believe that the materials selection stands for a discipline pertaining to their incompatibilities or the relations between one another. Maybe it’s just the technique. That’s why i can’t give you a straight answer about how they have been selected.
There is a question that i usually ask for our magazine is mainly on natural stones. Our country is really rich considering the marble resources. Do you think that this precious material is being used enough and the local is being appreciated? Do you use natural stones? Which natural stones do you prefer the most?
The biggest issue regarding natural stones is that there are no inventories created in this country. If any, i don’t know them. In order to achieve this, a proper study involving the producers and quarries is highly needed. This basic data should be created. We use natural stones. I ask every architect that we interview about the local/global designers and/or architects that he fol
I follow the world of architecture closely. Either on site by creating opportunities or in literature. Local architects are included of course. It’s impossible for me to name them all.
Thank you for all the information.
