Through the scope of architectural lighting, we are once again covering one of our favorite projects entitled LA WINERY TASTING FACILITY and CELLAR which we have mentioned in the earlier issues of our Natura Magazine and had an interview with the project architect..
Within the scope of the lighting project studies, lighting principles are determined following the geographical analysis of Torbalı and the project site due to the light and heat effects in the construction, caused by the natural light and seasonal differentiations of the sun. After determining the requirements of the environment, management, guests, the unique architecture and lighting, a lighting scenario is realized in order to add value to the construction. Later identifying the conceptual design approach; the balance of light and dark, effects of direct and indirect light beams, their directions and the total balance for indiscrete and local lighting effects have been designated as a result of analyzing the sensitivities of the decoration elements used in the space, towards light and colors and assembly dimensions of luminaires. Following the studies for light distribution curves and cross section studies that embody the visuality of the realized design; the quantity and quality of light sources, their powers, efficiencies,
lights, colors and temperatures have been evaluated in order to specify the luminaires that properly interpret the design in its fullest extent. The perception of the space allows you to watch the vineyard from the wine tasting area and at the same time manifests that the entireness has been designed with transparency along with visualizing the basement CELLAR from the broad glass tiling of the ground level. The connection between spaces realized through the powerful perspectives that are created by the openness and various axles of the outer space, ground level and basement floor; required the different spaces with different purposes to intersect with the fundamental principles of the lighting technique along with the same lighting quality in different levels and grounds. The perspectives of different horizon lines that are arisen from the mergence of steel form construction and curved exposed concrete of the cellar architecture spreading over 3000 sqm, ensured the pleasure of sizing in lighting design. The artificial lighting scenario of the cellar space which experiences both the partial sun light in certain hours and ground level lighting has been designed in rotation. The skin effect surfaces pioneered for the space to be perceived with the outer space without damaging the required lighting and stable heat values in the cellar through visualizing the daylight colors in different hours of the day. Luminaires designed solely for interchangeable usage regarding different time periods and functions are diversified for setting the necessary lighting values when the sunlight intensity increases, during the evening hours or during wine bottling operations. Hanging downlighter, uplighter and diffuse luminaires are designed for fulfilling various needs by being included in the lighting scenario. Implemented light source efficiencies and color temperatures are synthesized in order to preserve the essential spatial values and the coolness degrees for the cellar. While the overall lighting effect of the controlled sunlight that penetrates during the day from the exteriors of the glass surfaces at ground level, evokes the entireness, the luminaires powered by directional downlight LEDS that are positioned at the roof level territorialized the intended purposes of the space along with their local accents. Wine displaying spaces are delimitated by the effects of
linear led lighting. Lightings are indirectly used without being directly channeled to the products situated at the selling space. Bar and sitting areas are identified along with the effects of mellow pendant light compositions. The lighting of the construction with wooden and natural stone veneered facades are designed for evoking solely the presence of the construction without causing light pollution. Along with the linear LED uplight effect with an elliptical reflector from the flooring, the surface of the building block is conceptualized from the ground level in a certain extent. As for the higher levels, the entireness of the space has been reached along with the minimal accents coinciding with the definition and function of the architecture.Following the needs analysis, the starting point of the lighting design in the project was to represent the expectations through making a difference.Our aim was creating the mutual scenario with the inspiration coinciding with the space that identifies the functions and architecture along with its quality, provides tender solutions for the needs of the business and its guests; lays out a respectful environment for nature and people through saving energy and coincides with the artistic approach for evoking the feeling of the space while paying attention to the aforementioned values.
