(Turkish) XIII. İSTANBUL ULUSLARARASI MİMARLIK VE KENT FİLMLERİ FESTİVALİ YARIŞMASI

Organized by the Chamber of Architects Istanbul Metropolitan Branch
within the scope of XII. Istanbul International Architecture and Urban Films
Festival, Documentary and Animation Films Competition’s deadline for
applications is August 20.
Since its foundation in 1954, the Chamber of Architects has been working
intensively for the development of architectural culture, preservation of
historical heritage and the improvement of the quality of life. Starting from
2007, it has been carrying out an organization under the title of “Istanbul
International Architecture and Urban Films
Festival”. It is aimed for the event to ensure
the active participations of all parties taking
an interest in the field.
This festival is scheduled in the frame
of “Architecture and Urban Festival”
events conducted by the Chamber of
Architects Istanbul Metropolitan Branch
on the occasion of “World Architecture
Day”, which is celebrated collectively and
worldwide on the first Monday of October
every year. Therefore a competition
featuring an international category is
organized and awards are granted in
the scope of “Istanbul International
Architecture and Urban Films Festival”.
Furthermore, a film from the national
category will be presented with “Sami
Yılmaztürk Special Award” in memory
of Architect Sami Yılmaztürk, Former
President of Chamber of Architects
Istanbul Metropolitan Branch, who made
great efforts for the Chamber of Architects
for years during his professional life, strived
for the establishment of our festival, and
passed away on March 7, 2018.
The festival aims to support films produced
with a particular focus on “architecture
and city”, encourage new productions and
introduce critically-acclaimed films to the audience.
The festival includes documentary and animation films. Films participating
in the competition from Turkey and abroad, which pass the preselection
phase, are introduced to the audience and a competition is held between
these films. Besides, with regard to the subject, various talks and events
can be organized so as to facilitate the exchange of ideas among the
participants.
