Designed by OMCM Arquitectos, Peak House is located in San Bernardino, Paraguay, through the romantic sunset view of Ypacaraí Lake, one of the famous holiday resorts. Designed as a weekend house to spend pleasant time with family and friends upon the request of the users, the residence is placed on stepped terraces due to the steep position of the rocky terrain. The planning of the house has been made in a way that makes it possible to view the scenery from different perspectives at different times of the day.
With this in mind, the project team organized the spaces of the house as units positioned one on top of the other in a hierarchical order. The garage and service areas are located at the lowest level of the building as part of the social areas. While the dining room and kitchen are placed as a flexible space on the third floor, the bedrooms are positioned to open to a balcony in the afternoon, which breaks the effect of the sun in the rooms. The top floor is designed as a panoramic terrace to enjoy the joy of green and the lake view at sunset.
Local materials played a key role in the construction process of the house. The idea of using natural stones revealed during the excavation process in the construction of the building, which was originally planned to be built in reinforced concrete, gave a different direction to the design. Thus, the use of local stones has reduced energy and cost expenses. Ultimately, a weekend residence that meets the needs of its users functionally and is in harmony with the landscape has emerged.
