Sustainable Urbanism Convention and Exhibition will be organized by the courtesy of the Union of Turkish Engineers Association through the guidance of METU Department of City and Regional Planning. The event will be held between April 20-21 at the Eskişehir Atatürk Culture, Arts and Convention Center with theme “Sustainability from Theory to Practice”.
Sustainable Urbanism Convention aims to discuss tangible solutions and implementations in the scope of sustainability based on the increasing number of urban and environmental problems of housings in our country. Within this understanding, it focuses on assembling works in accordance with the nature of the sustainability notion, from many different disciplines such as city planning, architecture, industrial design, landscape architecture, engineering, management sciences and social studies. In this way, it aims to handle many topics as part of the sustainable urbanism from energy to transportation, from planning to structure processes, from managerial practices to participatory approaches and from citizen initiatives to changes in social structures. The event aspires to share new conceptual and procedural researchs in design, transportation, management and similar different sizes of spatial planning with the public opinion for housings to present homogeneous specifications with the natural structure and therefore to transform them to habitable spaces by decreasing ecological and carbon footprints.
