Currently living and studying in Germany, architect Ercan Ağırbaş will hold a conference at METU Faculty of Architecture. The speech entitled “Building Bridges …About Connection and Perception”, can be attended on April 4 at 12.30 at the Kubbealtı Hall.
Following his education in TU Berlin, Politecnico di Milano and ETH Zurich universities, Ercan Ağırbaş later graduated from ETH Zurich Faculty of Architecture in 1993. Between 1991-1995, he worked in Luigi Snozzi, Santiago Calatrava and RKW offices. He’s currently working as an independent architect. He’s granted for the German Steel Construction Award, German Employer Award and National Architecture Award. He won over 20 prizes in International Architecture, Landscape, Bridge and Urban Design contests and realized many of them. He has received the Urbanist title from the Federal Chamber of German Architects for his contributions in Urban Planning. Besides his office studies, he worked as an academician in Bochum and Dusseldorf universities. Lately he’s giving lectures for graduate students as an associate professor embodied in RWTH Aachen. Since 2013, he’s working in the Aesthetics Commision of Wuppertal Municipality. Migrated to Germany with his family at a young age, Ercan Ağırbaş carries on analyzing the connections between art, architecture and engineering from 1995 to present day.
