The historical building, which served İşbank as the Beyoğlu branch of İşbank for 63 years at Istiklal Avenue No:144 and has been under restoration since 2020, will open its doors to visitors on October 29 as the İşbank Painting and Sculpture Museum. First a Beyoğlu apartment building, then serving as the Beyoğlu Branch of Türkiye İş Bankası for many years, the comprehensive restoration work and museum preparations that have been ongoing since 2020 in the building, which has been registered as a cultural asset in need of protection, have come to an end. The Painting and Sculpture Museum, whose restoration project was prepared by Teğet Architecture, went through a long-term, intensive, and meticulous preparation period carried out by İş Sanat with the awareness that architectural structures have an important place in the preservation and transfer of urban memory to the future. The historical building, which is one of the valuable elements of Beyoğlu’s cultural identity and was built in the early 1900s with the ground floor for commercial purposes and the other floors as residential buildings, consists of 6 floors, one of which is a terrace, in addition to the basement and ground floors. The Painting and Sculpture Museum opens its doors to art lovers as a gift of Isbank to our country in the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey. With the new museum, which is realized under the roof of İş Sanat, which operates in many fields from music to plastic arts, from museology to cultural heritage preservation, another important milestone is added to the culture and art route of our country.
