GKE House designed by Ali Can Helvacıoğlu is located on an urban site with suburban plot density, that isn’ t reflecting those characteristics. The design aims to create a contemporary building reflecting traditional architectural characteristics by a stone shell that collects conductive spaces under it.

Three storey building is formed by two sliding stone mass with gable roofs. First of the building masses generates a living room with a gallery at ground floor and a working space at first floor. The other of them generates a kitchen and a room at ground floor and a master bedroom at first floor by setting back while creating a terrace. Transparent façade removes boundary between interior spaces and garden.

The building is located at the back edge of the site for maximising garden area. This placement enables to create a new vista by landscape design an vegetation while increasing users privacy. Stone cladded shell with glass curtain wall provides minimum maitainance cost while creating building’s formal characteristic. The building is located towards east-west direction and has a large opening at west facade. Vertical wooden sunbrakers are located on this facade for providing solar control.
