The most important point in the design process of Foça Hayat, signed by Not Mimarlık, located on the slope of a very beautiful hill in İzmir, was to give the landscape the value it deserves. The project, which includes 80 houses on an area of approximately 50,000 m² without a tissue to which it can be articulated, has the potential to create a texture on its own. The main approach in the design was the houses with large gardens, plain facades overlooking the landscape, the idea of a life in which the boundaries of the private area are clear but intertwined with the community. Foça Hayat, a cute neighborhood with its large and small houses and flowery streets, is far from being ordinary with its houses with seven different plans. In the project, where the energy of the houses with colorful flowers spills over the streets, life flows between indoor and outdoor spaces. There is a harmonious relationship between the internal and external environment. The houses and the gardens where life is intense are oriented towards a unique view. After years of design process, the project has now turned into a landscape. We can also say that the hill has undergone a metamorphosis with a romantic look. The ground floor of the buildings is completely covered with Foça Stone, which is also extracted from the quarries of this region. It was not even possible for architects to choose a stone other than this stone, which gives both its name and its soul to today’s Foça. The stone, which is relatively soft when processed, hardens gradually and gains strength, has been the main element providing the warmth sought in the project. This stone in yellowish tones is in unmatched harmony with its hill. In the project, travertine extracted from Burdur and Denizli regions was also used in the railings and windowsills.
