With its characteristic texture and sustainable nature, natural stone is among the materials frequently used in furniture designs in recent years. Natural stone, which is the trend material of every period with its durability, adds value to interior spaces and indispensable furniture designs of our living spaces with its wide color range and flexibility in taking different forms. Ewe Studio, Francesco Meda, Lemon, Lithos Design, which we discussed in our file, are among the names that complement their designs with natural stone in this sense… Ewe Studio transforms marble and onyx blocks into sculptural objects; Lemon gives its designs an identity with the unique texture of travertine; Lithos Design reflects the impressive nature of marble to its designs; Francesco Meda blends marble with metal material in contrast… We have compiled modern table designs, which are one of the most preferred product groups of natural stone and are shaped just like sculptures.
Altar
“Altar” bears the signature of Mexico-based design studio Ewe, which brings functional objects to life with sculptural forms. Ewe Studio, which aims to reflect the rich tradition of craftsmanship by taking inspiration from the history of Mexico, uses various techniques to blend raw materials that appeal to the natural senses with rough surfaces. The Altar, a table collection emphasizing craftsmanship and raw materials, was designed with inspiration from the altars used to present offerings to the gods in rituals and ceremonies in ancient Spain. In the collection, marble and onyx stone suitable for the desired character, size and quality parameters were used in order to add an aesthetic and textural quality to the design. Natural stone blocks were shaped using drills of various sizes. The holes in different positions and depths created by the chipping method have been meticulously processed to make the tables solid. In the design, in which natural stone turns into a sculptural object, the untreated rough surfaces in contrast with the flat surfaces refer to the altars of the ancient period.
Ashby
“Asbhy” is a table collection produced with travertine material by Lemon, which draws attention with its balance between aesthetics, form and function, and long-lasting furniture designs. With a design inspired entirely by its material, Ashby’s rounded thin upper part is combined with a sole with a sharp and strongly directional detail. Its versatile nature, pure silhouette, elegant proportions and dramatic texture allow it to be used in various spaces and functions.
Elitra
“Elitra”, signed by Lithos Design, is a table collection made of marble, brass and glass. In the design, which is characterized by a hollow conical table base, each of 3 identical marble pieces is folded out from both sides and mounted. The convex edges are fixed with brass material that adds elegance and contrast to the design. It is aimed to increase the visibility of the design by using smoked glass in the table part. Offering different patterns and color options with the original veins of marble, Elitra has become a complementary furniture for interiors with its impressive and stylish texture.
Petalo
Aiming to reflect the impressive nature of marble to its designs at the maximum level, Lithos Design is presenting its dining table collection named “Petalo” this time. The collection, designed by Raffaello Galiotto, combining aesthetics and functionality with a sustainable production process, consists of a chromatic combination of glass and marble. Inspired by a flower bud, the table base consists of three radially shaped and superimposed thin marble pieces. On the round table top, which resembles a flower petal, transparent and light glass material was preferred, allowing the marble base to be seen.
Split
Francesco Meda is a designer who allows the material to shape his work rather than initially setting a form for his designs. The designer, who likes to reflect the natural beauty and characteristic structure of marble in his works, used marble and polished brass together in his table collection called “Split”. The table tops in the collection, each of which is unique, have been specially produced from a combination of marble slabs in many different colors such as red, pink, green, gold, black, by utilizing the diversity offered by natural stone. The marble slabs are combined with long thin pieces of brass running through the middle and designed to be split into two or four parts to facilitate the transport of the table. The contrast created by traditional marble and this more modern metal made the design timeless. For the table legs, on the other hand, in order to emphasize the marble material, which is the leading role of the design, light materials such as iron, with rational forms, in color tones close to the table were preferred.
