The winners of the Chamber of Architects’ 17th National Architecture Exhibition & Awards were recently announced over an online ceremony on September 18, 2020. Nişan Yaubyan took home the “Mimar Sinan Grand Prize” whilst the “Successful Contribution to Architecture Award” went to both Reha Günay and Mehmet Özdoğan. This year’s “Commemoration Program” paid homage to the late Vedat Dalokay. The exhibition itself will remain open for public viewing until September 23 at the TBB Litai Konukevi in Ankara.
The prizes are given in three categories: Buildings, projects, and ideas. In the 17th National Architecture Exhibition and Awards, Building Category awards went to Ömer Selçuk Baz for the Troy Museum, to Ali Eray, Pınar Gökbayrak, and Burçin Yıldırım for the Gökçeada High School Campus, and to Ali Hızıroğlu and Ertun Hızıroğlu for the Garanti BBVA Bank Technology Campus. In the Building / Protection Category Ayşe Karademir and Süreyya Saruhan was awarded for the Consulate General of the Arab Republic of Egypt building in Istanbul. Emre Torbaoğlu, Arif Bıltır, Evrim Akcan received the Building / Environment Category Award for their 270° Sivrihisar project, whilst the Project Category award was given to Kerem Erginoğlu and Hasan Çalışlar for the Palanga Goat Shelter. Eda Yazkurt Pelenk and Burak Pelenk were awarded for Zonguldak Üzülmez Culture Valley under the Project / Protection Category. The awards in the Idea Presentation Category were given to Ecenur Sezgin for Solid[in]k, and Nizam Onur Sönmez, Derya Uzal, Furkan Balcı and Tevfik Saygın Özcan for “Shell”.
