The Marble Izmir
International Natural Stone & Technologies Fair is back, and marking its
27th edition from June 8 to 11, 2021. Marketing the very best in Turkish
natural stone, the biannual event will also simultaneously feature the 6th
International Stone Congress between June 9 and 12. Themed “Stone Adds Value –
Those Who Add Value to Stone” this year’s congress will provide scientists and
industry representatives alike the perfect opportunity to come together.
The City of Izmir recently held meeting to promote the upcoming congress.
Mevlüt Kaya (EMIB, CEO), Aydın Dinçer (TIM Maden Sektör Kurulu & İMİB,
CEO), Alim Murathan (Chamber of Geological Engineers – Izmir Chapter,
President), Dr. İlker Kahraman (Chamber of Architects – Izmir Chapter,
President) and Canan Karaosmanoğlu Alıcı (İZFAŞ, General Manager) were in
attendance to talk about the stone industry’s current status and the congress
itself, as well as to answer questions. Led by Prof. Dr. Faruk Çalapkulu,
himself a leading industry figure alongside president of the congress’s
Executive Committee, the meeting closed off with he and his contemporaries
signing a protocol.
The 6th International Stone Congress will be held by the City of Izmir in
partnership with the TMMOB Chamber of Geological Engineers (Izmir Chapter), the
TMMOB Chamber of Architects (Izmir Chapter), the Aegean Mineral Exporters’
Association, the Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association, the Western
Mediterranean Exporters Association (TİM Maden Sektör Kurulu), and İZFAŞ. Other
unions actively supporting the congress include the Turkish Marble, Natural
Stone, and Machinery Manufacturers Association (TÜMMER) and the Denizli
Exporters’ Association (DENİB).
