
The 2023 applications for Salt Research Funds, which was founded by Garanti BBVA, have been organized every year since 2013 to support the production and sharing of knowledge, have started. The funds, which encourage research projects focused on Turkey’s two centuries of urban, social, and economic history and post-1950 art, architecture, and design, also aim to interpret the archive collections and research projects of the institution. As a result of the application process to be completed in two stages, 20,000 TL of funding will be provided to each of the selected research projects. For candidate projects that have passed the preliminary application stage, the results will be announced on Tuesday, April 18, after the second stage. The outputs of the supported projects will be made available to the public for comments and contributions through a presentation program to be held in December. This year’s evaluation process was carried out by Prof. Dr. Gülhan Balsoy (Istanbul Bilgi University), Assoc. Dr. Ayşe Erek (Kadir Has University), Dr. Bilge İmamoğlu (TED University), Sezin Romi (Salt), and Lorans Tanatar Baruh (Salt) will be led by the selection committee. Applications need to be prepared on the basis of the areas that Salt Research focuses on. Art studies cover the examination of processes, individuals and institutions, exhibitions, and events that created breaking moments in the culture and art environment of Turkey from the 1950s to the present. Architecture and design research, architectural practices, and design approaches in Turkey after the 1950s, content that is outside the printed sources or that brings original approaches to existing sources. Urban, social and economic history studies include studies detailing the social and economic transformation of the 19th-century Ottoman Empire and 20th-century Turkey, and urban studies.
