Every year, the Museum + Heritage Awards celebrates all things great in museums and heritage across the globe. Celebrating its 18th edition this year, the British-based event pushes contestants to battle it out for one of fifteen different prizes. Better still, the Odunpararı Modern Museum (OMM) in Eskişehir designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates (KKAA) has made it into the M + A 2020 International Shortlist for the International Project of the Year alongside four other nominees: The Museum de Lakenhal (the Netherlands), the National Museum of Qatar (Qatar), the Museum of Literature (Ireland), and the House of the Hungarian Millennium (Hungary). The M + A Awards Ceremony first was postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, only to later be moved online. It will take place on September 22. The OMM has quickly blossomed into a convergence point for modern art since its opening a short while ago. That said, captivating visitors is more than just its stunning architecture. It also plays host to numerous education programs, seminars, artist meet-ups, workshops, and dynamic exhibitions – all of which aim to foster not only Eskişehir’s but also Turkey in general’s cultural progression, as well as to strengthen the pool of art work of particularly young talent.
