The second Workshop for The Reuse of Marble Waste Project was held in Antalya on January 19, 2019, with the participation of public and private sector representatives and universities’ faculty members. The opening speech of the event was delivered by Mithat Cansız, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources. In the scope of the workshop’s second edition, which is moderated by Mümin Aydın, the Natural Stone and Marble Department Head of MAPEG (The General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs) and Dear Prof. Atiye Tuğrul (PhD); the participants have been presented with a presentation demonstrating the studies and reports that had been carried out in the first workshop by 12 groups consisting of participants from different disciplines, who aimed todetermine both 10 primary sectors including aggregate, cement, glass, ceramics and plastic, which would allow for the reuse of marble waste, and the related waste legislations, incentives and support programmes. The presenta
tion was followed by a Q&A session, which paved the way for designating the common grounds. At the end of the workshop programme, Mehmet Bıçkıcı, the Deputy General Manager of MAPEG, stressed that this workshop was of great value and all the opinions on this matter were of great significance, which accordingly led to the decision to evaluate and share in a report format the expectations and proposals put forward by the work groups and participants through consensus.
