It has many similarities with the city it takes its name from; Istanbul is a city of art, culture and history… You can feel it wherever you go. It is a constantly developing city, a commercial center that lives 24/7. At Istanbul Airport, a very serious trade takes place with hotels, shopping, advertising areas, and food and beverage areas. In addition, we are moving forward to differentiate ourselves beyond being one of the best airports in the world, to offer passengers another special experience and to make Istanbul Airport a center that they will want to visit once again. Today, we have come together to make Istanbul Airport a gateway to art. With İGART, we will contribute to the brand of Istanbul, enabling the buildings to take on a spirit and identity. By giving all our support to our İGART project, with our terminal and with our strength, Painter and Academician Prof. We will follow the path to be followed by the invaluable executive committee led by Dr Hüsamettin Koçan with the independent decision-making power in this project.” he said.
İGART will make a great contribution to the culture and art environment of our country…
Speaking at the launch of İGART, Chairman of the Executive Board of İGART, Painter and Academician Prof. Dr. Hüsamettin Koçan, on the other hand, emphasized that it has become even more important to support art and artists in such a period that we are going through a global epidemic, and expressed that the works to be carried out within the scope of IGART, especially the competition planned in the first period, are very valuable in this respect. Koçan said, “Istanbul Airport is an impartial meeting point, free from prejudices, where passengers from different cultures, beliefs and lives, whose common goal is to reach a destination, meet each other unaware of each other. This is a space where individuals let themselves flow and are open to communication with their liberation. It is very meaningful to bring both the place, the people and the artist together with art at a common point, inspired by this structure of the airport.” he continued. Koçan drew attention to the fact that the artists are not limited in any way other than the definition of space in the competition to be held within the scope of IGART; stated that the competition is a competition that protects the artist’s financial rights and offers the artist the freedom to create and propose. He stated that one channel of the competition was opened only to young artists under the age of 35 who represent our future, and that their responsibilities towards art were also fulfilled. Koçan concluded his speech with the words, “Producing a new artistic energy open to every suggestion, every technique and everyone will make a great contribution to the cultural and artistic environment of our country.”
