For four days, the designers came together with the curatorship of Nurcihan Beyazıt and created product designs inspired by Göbeklitepe. These designs produced with Turkey’s natural stone will create “Göbeklitepe Design Collection”. The collection will also introduce natural stone of Turkey through the design. Designers got detailed information about Göbeklitepe and wandered the area on the first day. On the second day of the workshop, they attended the presentation about the introduction of Turkey’s natural stone and the production method. Then, they examined the traditional nahit stone production site of Urfa, which is a kind of limestone in which the “T” columns in Göbeklitepe are made and the Halfeti Public Education Center mosaic production workshops. After the Haleplibahçe Mosaic Museum in Şanlıurfa was visited on the third day of the workshop, two-day design work started. During the intense creation process, design ideas and sketches were produced with inspiration from Göbeklitepe’s history, geography, nature, architecture and monumental structures. The design of everyday accessories, desktop accessories and different tools to be used in different areas made by Urfa nahit stone, the lead basalt stone of Karacadağ, one of the volcanic rock types found in Urfa and its surroundings and natural stone extracted from various regions of Turkey are developed. The forms of objects created by the designers inspired by the columns in Göbeklitepe, the figures on the walls, the human relationship with nature, and the rituals of those who lived thousands of years ago reflect the magical atmosphere of Mesopotamia. The original design of the design team consisting of Buket Hoşcan Bazman, Ceren Gürkan, Eli Bensusan, Emre Yunus Uzun, Hazal Balasar, Mustafa Timur and Şule Koç will be produced by Turkey natural stone.

Turkey as natural stonerich, has over 650 colors and patterns of marble. In addition, our country has nearly 150 natural stone types in travertine, limestone and granite. We will continue to show this richness we have as an association. ” Göbeklitepe Design Workshops will continue to be held with the aim of having the original design of products with high export potential by “Göbeklitepe Design Collection” with the participation of leading designers.
