Designed by GMW MIMARLIK, the Tashkent International Airport was selected as an “Honourable Mention” for the American 2019 Architecture MasterPrize (AMP) -“Transportation Category.” Applicants from all four corners of the globe submitted their projects to the 2019 Architecture MasterPrize which, upon entering its 4th edition, aims to is to advance the appreciation of creativity and innovation in architectural design worldwide. Finalists competed across 41 sub-categories spread under three main categories, including “Landscape Design”, “Interior Design”, and “Architectural Design. The MasterPrize Award Ceremony will be held on October 14, 2019 at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. The 2019 Architecture MasterPrize is not the first of the GMW MIMARLIK designed Tashkent International Airport’s successes. The project has also succeeded in becoming a World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards finalist (“Future Projects – Infrastructure” category), one of the architecture world’s most prestigious of awards. The project will compete both for first place and for the WAF Overall Winners at the WAF Awards in Amsterdam from December 4 to 6, 2019. Including the airport’s land and air infrastructure, GMW MIMARLIK will design, engineer, and provide consultancy on every stage of the project, which will feature an approx. 90.000 sqm terminal, two 10.000 sqm executive offices, a 6.000 sqm dining quarter, and a 20.000 sqm maintenance shed.
