DENIZLI HOUSE IS LOCATED IN A PRIVATE HOUSING ESTATE
COMPRISING A NUMBER OF DWELLINGS THAT ARE PLANNED ATOP
OF THE PERIMETER BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE MOUNTAINS. THE
HOMEOWNERS WORKING AT AN INTENSIVE PACE IN THE HEALTH
SECTOR, WHO WERE IN NEED OF A TRANQUIL, BREATHING, AND
NATURE-INTEGRATED SPACE, CALLED FOR JALE KULIN TO DESIGN
A SERENE AND REFINED HOUSE THAT REFLECTS THEIR LIFESTYLES,
MAINTAINS UNINTERRUPTED CONNECTION WITH THE OUTSIDE AND
EMBODIES NATURAL MATERIALS, WHERE CLASSICAL AND MODERN
TEXTURES CONVERGE AND LIGHT COLORS DOMINATE THE SPACE. Jale Kulin tells the story of Denizli House as follows:
“We got involved in the building, whose architectural shell was preserved,
during the phase of exposed concrete. We made minimal structural interventions
for the structure, which is located in an earthquake zone, however, its
structural equipment was visually congested and it was embodying challenging
details in certain parts. Throughout the space, the column thicknesses on
the walls, along with beams, coves and projections on the ceilings have been
concealed, thus culminating in net-floor areas that embody living spaces.
The three-story house is designed according to the homeowners’ flow of life:
The basement floor, which receives plenty of daylight, features a spacious TV
and sports room, bathhouse and sauna areas, as well as a large laundry room,
a kitchen area and an extensive closet. The ground floor is home to the living
room, which is connected to a 40-sqm noce travertine-clad terrace area, extending
towards the lawn where dining room and kitchen converge. The front
side has a study room and a guest room, which can be accessed through the
main entrance. The first floor has 2 teen bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a
lounge, along with a master suite and a dressing room. From fabrics to bathroom
wall tiles, we placed particular emphasis on choosing only natural materials
and creating a spatial layout that is not overcrowded by furnishings. As for
the color palette, we set out from earth tones and added sky contrast tones
in certain areas so as to achieve the sensation of turquoise colors. Of course,
marbles were selected among stones indigenous to the Denizli region. We used
different sizes and textures of various travertines both indoors and outdoors.
Ultimately, we experienced the joy of creating an austere and cozy house having
classical notes, which is most importantly easy to live in, while also making
great friends throughout the process. This is indeed one of the most precious
aspects of my profession.”
