Natrufied Architecture has designed a house, garden house, carport
and a bike storage in the wooden coastal area of Bergen, an old artist
town. The aim of the design was to create living spaces that would be
in harmony with nature.
After mapping the heights and trees, the buildings were carefully
placed in order to fully encompass nature. Having an open floorplan
responding to different needs throughout the day, as well as ensuring
privacy, the main house is nestled between oak and pine trees, away
from the main road. A large roof allows sunlight during the evening
and in winter, while protecting its users from peak heat hours. Additionally,
the cantilevered roof provides for a sheltered seating area
within a natural setting, including an outdoor fireplace. The floorplan
features open and more secluded areas. Large revolving and sliding
doors provide uninterrupted access to outside terraces, thus ensuring
outdoor and indoor spaces to flow easily into one another. Hidden in
sandy dunes, the bedroom area features windows that open out to forest
views, thereby providing maximum privacy, while the grid on the
south end allows twinkling sunlight to penetrate into the bathroom.
Emphasizing privacy and seclusion as well as capturing the views
of trees and dunes, the guesthouse presents its users with experiences
of nature similar to the main house, while also allowing for
spaces to flow inside. Both the carport and bike storage are completely
intertwined with the landscape. All the walls and roofs are
covered by natural vegetation and have only a central opening for
access.
The buildings have CO2 absorbing materials such as wood and
bamboo as well as triple glazing, high insulated walls, insulating
and water-absorbing green roof, and 35 solar panels. The green
wall in the basement offers an extra chance to live in nature…
