The Anhinga project, located in Çivit Cove, a sandy cove in the Bodrum Kaplankaya region, includes beach club, restaurant and bar functions. Considering that there are many suggestions for bringing architectural identity to the region in the current situation, as a design approach different from other suggestions, the main circulation that offers the beauty of the beach to the user and the navigation route are designed together. Working together with city planners in the design process, the team used the concept of walking in the landscape based on the sea view, which is related to units such as housing, health and kitchen without closing the beach with a structure. While providing a fun and social contrast to the silence of the spa center located near Anhinga Restaurant and Bar, it also offers a living space that respects and nurtures its location. In this living space design, the design team, which investigates the construction techniques, geometries and forms of traditional Aegean houses, has traditionally terraced the steep land and turned it into a design opportunity. While the retaining walls made of natural stone constitute the residential area, they have created slightly inclined and comfortable wide roads connecting the flattened land, beach, restaurant, bar and other facilities. The walking paths shape the area outside the restaurant and bar, which is positioned relative to the average axis of the sun during the hot summer months and fully utilizes the sunset view.
Pergola and canopies provide air circulation and coolness by leaning on the stone walls in the dining and resting areas in order to prevent the users from being exposed to the sun’s rays in the increasing temperature of the summer in Bodrum. This cover, which shades the space during the day, creates a warm and friendly atmosphere at night. On the beach, fabric pergolas hung on randomly arranged grids of wooden posts create different shade areas with varying angles of the sun. Natural materials is used in furniture and decoration designs, while landscape design was enriched with tropical species among local plants.
