The idea of forming a district terminal arose to mitigate the traffic problem brought about by the existence of bus firms in different parts at the city core, allowing the city of Kayseri to access its districts and the traffic density created by such vehicles at the city center; hence the western district and village terminal to be used by vehicles coming from the districts and villages on the west of the city was designed. This structure lies on grounds which also contain the intercity bus terminal on the old collection road 8 km away from the city center. The ease of connection to the new collection road passing through the north of the city, the link to the present intercity bus terminal and the closeby rail system axis were among the reasons why this location was opted for.

“WE CHOSE TO USE NATURAL STONE WHICH IS THE
LONGEST LASTING MATERIAL CARRYING THE STRUCTURE
TO THE FUTURE.”
The design criteria of the structure was the effort to provide individual foyers to
the district and village terminal passengers under the shell of the same building.
To that end, transparent foyers inserted from two different directions on the
surface of a gross wall in ‘Z’ shape were designed. The reason why these foyers
were kept transparent was to enhance the perception of the platforms formed
right outside the building. The structure is designed over a land of 10,000 m2,
with a construction area of 1,200 m2. On the portion facing the old connection
road of the building lie the district terminal foyer and platforms; and on
the north are the village terminal foyer and platforms. Transitions were created
between district and village terminal foyers and the ticket offices of either terminal
were designed separately. Wet spaces and technical rooms are located at
a single station for both terminals. The district terminal passenger foyer contains
the terminal administration, agency offices, private security office, food kiosks,
masjids, WCs and technical spaces.
