İstanbul Modern presents the most comprehensive exhibition by Şahin Kaygun who gives the first specimens of the disciplinary approach to photography. Şahin Kaygun exhibition extends from the artist’s Polaroid work where he has experimental touches on photography, to his production in the field of cinema, to his last period where he brings the boundary between photography and art closer and closer. The exhibition featuring 89 works created by Şahin Kaygun from 1978 until 1991, curated by Sena Çakırkaya, presents the trails of the technical and conceptual transformation in the photography series and the working practices of the artist. Şahin Kaygun, who brings together different fields like art, graphics, photography and cinema in the photography culture of 1980s when the disciplinary concept was not yet topical in Turkey, came up with new and surprising applications relating to photography technique, employing unlimited means of creativity. The exhibition may be visited at İstanbul Modern until February 15.
