Vitra Design Museum in Germany Weil am Rhein organized a comprehensive exhibition on Bauhaus artists and designers. In the exhibition, which features numerous works created along the history of German Bauhaus school, one of the most important phenomenon affecting the world’s architecture, design and art scene; works artists who were the leading names of their periods like Walter Gropius, Marianne Brandt and Wassily Kandinsky, took place.
The school, established in 1919 by Walter Gropius, allowed the development of numerous names who have made their mark on last century, with its modernist educational concept in the union of different disciplines like architecture, art, cinema, photography, product design and graphic design.
At the exhibition entitled “Tha Bauhaus #itsalldesign” divided into four sections; in addition to numerous works and documents not exhibited before, Walter Groupius’s manifesto dated 1919, the U-shaped metal armed chair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and 1923 Park glass panel by Josef Albers are among the design icons on display.
The first section of Bauhaus dedicated to its historical context is followed by design products and space themes shedding light on the school’s design concept. In the last section are graphic design and communication design works and experimental films created in the school.
The exhibition, which serves as a tribute performed by Vitra Design Museum on Bauhaus which has been talked about recently with the Bauhaus Museum contest and two winning designs, will be open to visitors until February 28 of next year.
