THE ADVANCES IN TECHNOLOGY PRESENTS IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITIES ON THE SUBJECT OF NATURAL STONE PROCESSING TOO TO THE PRODUCERS. NEWLY MANUFACTURED CNC MACHINE TOOLS AND STONE CUTTERS ALLOW PREVIOUSLY NOT ACCOMPLISHED PRODUCTION. THE FIRM NATUR OPERATING IN THE FIELD OF MARBLE PROCESSING OVER THE YEARS REVEALS DIFFERENT MARBLE PROCESSING WITH ITS NEW MACHINES. WE DISCUSSED MARBLE MACHINING TECHNIQUES WITH THE FIRM’S OWNER HARUN TOKMAN:
echnological developments allowed quite different approaches in the field of marble machining as well. Could you describe what you do for us from this aspect?
We have been employing technology largely in marble machining as Natur Maden. In our plant, we use two 7-axis robots, one 6-axis wire cutters, two 3- axis CNCs, one 4-axis Bridge Cutter and one 5x-axis Waterjet and CNC lathes among our latest state-of-the-art technology machinery. With these machines, we’re able to create statues, busts, Corinthian and Ionic heads, reliefs, 3D murals, column coatings, columns and a lot more. As our firm, we monitor technology very closely; plan our investments in that manner and are able to produce error-free and on-time contributions to projects as a result of these investments. We’re always one step ahead as we monitor technology closely and are able to use these machines.
What projects did you participate in?
We did special production for numerous projects locally and abroad and we’re still doing so. For example, we did very special fabrication for the grounds of Eurovision song contests in Baku. We did three-dimensional murals for Melbourne Sheraton Hotel, special applications for Baku Olympic Stadium VIP sections and most recently, for SPA sections and restaurants of one of the largest hotels of our country under construction in Antalya, Belek.
You bring an important approach to marble working architecturally. What are your recommendations to architects in this area?
Yes, you’re absolutely correct. But unfortunately, in our country, our architects do not use natural stone and marble much in their projects and perhaps a lot of them don’t know them and maybe our industry has a fault in this. However, there are also architects who employ marble and natural stone very well but their number must grow. Maybe we need symposiums and more efficient promotions at trade fairs. I would like to tell our architects that marble and natural stone machines and techniques have advanced a lot in our country at a level almost able to compete with Italy and that in many fields, we’re better than them. We also have to add that our country in terms of marble and natural stone diversity and quality has a very important position worldwide. Therefore, opting for our own stones instead of foreign ones in projects will be better in terms of both promotion and also business.
