Italian designer Moreno Ratti designed marble
vases comprising parts in the form of Hanoi
Towers. The puzzle, based on lining up discs of
different sizes from the smallest to the largest
using three posts, was developed by French
mathematician Édouard Lucas in 1883. After 132 years, Ratti
tries to carry this puzzle to design. The three posts of the puzzle
are transformed into elegant metal pedestals, and discs into
nine circular pieces from Carrara marble; leaving the user with
the task of designing the form he or she wants.
