AB Mikro Nano R&D Building is located on a high sloped site where the Bilkent University and Cyberpark campuses meet at intertwined boundaries. Designed for research in nanotechnology, much needed spacious clean rooms of the building are located at lower floors, forming a travertine clad base bridging the edges of the parcel. Main entrance to offices and technical entrance to clean rooms are positioned at different floors of opposite facades of the base. Laboratory and office floors above emerge with setbacks from the base, shaping the perception of final form in tune with the movement along the main road and the neighboring NANOTAM headquarters. The project aims to interpret textures and colors in its context in a subtle and contemporary fashion; materializing them into functional and universal architecture, fulfilling the innovative nature of research and development. Such interpretation produces youthful, dynamic and optimistic spaces, in tune with the on-campus location.
