ELIPS DESIGN ARCHITECTURE WAS GRANTED FOUR SEPARATE AWARDS FOR ITS “WILO PUMP HEAD OFFICE
ENTERTAINMENT AND RECREATION AREA, NEVZAT DEMIR FACILITY, ATTIC LOFT” PROJECTS ALONG WITH ITS
PRODUCT DESIGN ENTITLED “LINE LIGHTING” AT INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE AWARDS (IAA), WHICH WAS
ORGANIZED FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR BY THE US-BASED THE ARCHITECTURE COMMUNITY AND WHICH
AWARDED PROJECTS IN MAIN CATEGORIES INCLUDING ARCHITECTURE, INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE, PRODUCT
DESIGN AND GRAPHIC DESIGN.
Led by Architect MSc Feza Ökten Koca, Elips Design&Architecture,
which carries out award-winning architecture and interior architecture
projects and furniture designs on national and international scale, was
deemed worthy of receiving four awards in three different categories
at International Architecture Awards (IAA), which was organized by
the US-based The Architecture Community. Having received the first
prize with “Wilo Pump Head Office Entertainment
and Recreation Area” and the runner-up prize with
“Nevzat Demir Facility” in International Architecture
Awards’ “Corporate Interior” category, Elips
Design&Architecture further won second prize in
the “Residential Interior” category with its “Attic
Loft” project along with third prize in the “Product
Design” category with “Line Lighting”.
Having granted first prize in the “Corporate Interior”
category, Wilo Pump Head Office Entertainment
and Recreation Area is designed as a space where
the employees of Wilo Pump Tuzla Head Office can
socialize and have quality time after work hours
and planned with the aim to create a dynamic
and functional space. For the interior design, Elips
Design&Architecture opted for special corners
for chess, billiard, table tennis, table football and
PlayStation, along with acoustic panels for walls and
ceilings as a part of design in order to prevent sound
from reducing the comfort level in the space, which
also embodies a kitchenette. In addition to walls clad
in acoustic panels, one of the walls is coated with
photo frames that revive the event memories of
Wilo. In addition to a large projection screen, which
allows screening opportunities on demand, a good
music system is also included in the space.
Granted second prize in the “Corporate Interior”
category, Nevzat Demir Facility is designed within
the body of Beşiktaş Sports Club as a vast and
functional space spreading over 570 sqm with good circulation and
management. Designed as a pool area for the players of Beşiktaş for
training and treatment purposes, this section includes an indoor pool,
jacuzzi, swimming pool, water running and shock pool. The spa section
features steam room, sauna, hot stone beds, relaxation room and shower
areas. Furthermore, the other section of the project includes two massage
rooms with a private jacuzzi and shower area, aiming for the professional
use of football players.
Receiving the second prize in the “Residential Interior” category, the Attic
Loft project is designed for a young individual who is studying in university.
Elips Design&Architecture created various functions such as recreation,
working, sports, food and entertainment, and incorporated them into this
132-sqm loft area as far as possible. At the center of the space is an open
area featuring a kitchen and dining space along with a working and fitness
corner, all of which are positioned around a 350 cm wide armchair and
cinema system. Elips Design&Architecture has separated the bathroom
from the living room with a glass blind system so as to allow watching TV
from the bathroom. The spots where the roof slope is reduced to minimum
levels are designed as storage areas, which paved the way for creating an
efficient space. Finally, Architect MSc Feza Ökten drew inspiration from the bond
between mother and child that represents love and trust for the lighting
design entitled Line Lighting, which received the third prize in the
“Product Design” category. The piece composed of a large amorphous
solid wood symbolizes the mother, while the small piece of wood
symbolizes the child. The led chips placed on wooden bodies emit light
with the help of partly white and transparent acrylic rods, while this
linear light represents the energy between mother and child.
